Parent Engagement
Welcome to the Parent Engagement Toolkit
Participant Information
Thank you for your interest in the Parent Engagement Toolkit (PET).
What is this research about?
The toolkit is free to use and provides a range of strategies which you can use to enhance parent engagement in your school. These strategies were collected from schools participating in research conducted by a team of researchers (Povey, Willis, Hodges, Carroll, and Antrobus) from The University of Queensland (UQ). Research data gathered by the toolkit may be used to measure the impact of the PET on schools and to improve the PET for future use by other schools.
What does taking part involve?
Once you sign up to the toolkit, you will be redirected to the toolkit home page and an email containing your login details will be sent to you via an email delivery platform, Mailgun hosted in the USA. You are able to provide feedback on the toolkit either via a survey link embedded in the toolkit, or by contacting the research team via email/phone. There are no risks in using the content of this toolkit beyond the risks of everyday living.
What will happen to the information about me?
Any data collected (analytics and feedback) will be used to improve the toolkit and for research and teaching purposes. All data collected will be downloaded and archived in a de-identified form according to UQ policy, and will be available for research and teaching purposes only. The data will be stored using the Research Data Manager (RDM) system hosted by the University of Queensland. The RDM is a robust, secure, and collaborative storage facility. The RDM has been developed in accordance with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and the FAIR guiding principles and meets the requirements of regulatory bodies.
The Parent Engagement Toolkit is housed on the platform WordPress, and will use Google Analytics to collect information on which strategies were viewed and how often. Any personal information collected on WordPress will be confidential and only administrators from Juno Creative (external website designer that created the PET and therefore has access to the platform the PET is housed on, and where participants’ details are recorded, for the purposes of site maintenance and technical support and will not use the personal details for any other purpose) and the UQ research team will have access to these data. Feedback survey data is collected by Qualtrics, which uses Australian servers.
What will happen if I decide to withdraw?
Your participation in this research is voluntary, and you are free to withdraw from the research at any time without any penalty. Google Analytics data (which includes your school/organisation name) cannot to be removed once you begin using the toolkit, however, we can exclude your data from any research using this data if you choose to withdraw. If you would like to withdraw from the study, please email us on pes@uq.edu.au. You would need to provide your email address and indicate if you would like all of your data withdrawn from the study and whether you would also like to be removed as a user from the toolkit.
